The Art Institute of Chicago

During my recent trip to Chicago, I visited The Art Institute of Chicago. Guess what I saw! An original Eames Lounge Chair on Display. This as well as a few other iconic pieces were showcased.

Wall art idea

The tables that were showcased were pretty cool but check out the posters! I would love to see this posted on a wall. It's a bit morbid with the bleeding eyes but a fantastic image nonetheless.

Kris Cross wall will make you Jump Jump!

A few weeks ago I came across an ad that had a interesting wall treatment. It had criss crossing, diagonal lines that created a random triangular pattern. Here's my attempt at a reproduction on my home office wall.

On a walk-about Kenny

This morning I was introduced to a bustling little bakery/ sand which counter in the Abbot Kenny district in Venice. Peppered with patrons sporting baby bjornes, rayban wafer sunglasses, prettiness and a touch of hipster, this will definitely a west side staple.

Play for free

My latest obsession has been the Homestyler on-line software program by AutoDesk. It's a bit like sketch up but much easier and with home furnishing options.

This is my first crack at using the program.

movie set

I not only enjoyed "X-Men First Class" for the non-stop action, I couldn't help but notice some of the great set design. It was just candy to my eyes.

Cluster love

Grouping objects together of the same color provide an interesting visual vignette. Try this on a mantle, a shelf or in the center of your dining table.

Possible Project

Warning, I'm making this up as I go. If I do decide to go through with this project, I'll post my progress.

This could either be for a headboard or a wall that just needs some jazzing up.

From the looks of it you'll need the following materials:
fabric with an over-sized pattern
thin to medium batting
simple wood trim
a stapler
nails
a hammer
iced tea infused vodka from Seagram and Newton's Natural Lemonade.
